The Asia Team Championship will also act as a qualifier for the Thomas and Uber Cup tournaments, which to be held in Bangkok from May 20 to 27 with the teams finishing at the semifinals qualifying for the prestigious tournament ... Indian women struggled against lowly seeded Hong Kong in their first match ... Sindhu started with a comfortable win but our makeshift doubles pairing of Ashwini and Prajakta lost in three games ... Sri Krishna Priya also lost her match against lowly ranked Hong Kong player ... Sindhu won the second point for India, partnering Sikki in the doubles ... In the fifth match, Ruthvika scored a win after losing the first game ... Very tough task for this team against Japanese team.

Indian men trounced hapless Philippines team in one-sided match.
